Crime Fighters!

Do you and the kids love shows like CSI, NCIS, Law and Order? Ok, those are not exactly kids programs but if they are interested in such things and you are going to the Washington DC area then you just have to check out the National Museum of Crime & Punishment!

This gold mine of technology, technique and television - they film America's Most Wanted from a set at this location - is perfect for the child who is or may be interested in crime fighting whether it's on the street or in a lab.

Perhaps the best thing about this museum is that they show people how to avoid being a victim and how to be active in fighting crime on your own neighborhood. They even give you and your family the list of what to do if you see a crime in progress!

Still think it will bore your kids? Wait till they see the authentic jail cell, Wild West Shooting Gallery and Police Chase Simulators!

Your kids will love it and you can feel a bit more comfortable knowing they have been better trained in staying safe.

If you are in Washington DC and want to see the latest in the crime fighting and forensics museum you won't regret this tour.

Museum anyone?

"Awww! Not another museum!" Is that your kids when you mention the idea? Well, here are some really fun and exciting museums your children may enjoy in spite of the fact that it's a museum.

Do your kids love Captain Jack Sparrow? They will be happy to go with you to the Key West Pirate's Soul Museum! They can walk on the streets of the pirate city of Port Royal! How about sitting in a recreation of Captain Kidd's quarters? How cool is it to experience how the pirate Blackbeard's life ended. They can even see the only authentic pirate treasure chest in the world!

Key West is the place of daydreams. After the museum you can relax at the hotel's pool, swim in the ocean and look for starfish or Queen Conch's or even have a nice Italian Ice Cream (called a Gelatto) at Gelatto on Duval. Yum!

Your kids will be talking about that cool pirate museum in Key West for years!

Summertime fun?

So, summer is here and the kids are out of school. What will you do with them to build relationship and, hopefully, educate them at the same time? Like the commercials say for the tutoring company, your kids lose some ground when they are out of school for 3 months so what's a parent to do?

Family vacations are always a great way to build on that foundation of blood-relationship and form a more solid personal relationship between parents and children.

My new blog is my desire to provide some ideas for things to do. Let me know what you think!
